Mike has climbed and adventured himself and with groups all over the world including Africa, Iceland, Norway, North America and most parts of the European Alps. His love and passion for adventure whether climbing, caving or sailing is echoed by a career of over 30 years as a full time mountaineering and outdoor education instructor.

 

He is a Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and International Mountain Leader, and is a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.

Mike also has a lifelong involvement in Mountain Rescue. He is a former team leader of Duddon & Furness Mountain Rescue Team, and is currently Vice Chair for Mountain Rescue England and Wales. In 2021 he was awarded an OBE in recognition of services to Mountain Rescue.
